What's happening?An Arts Festival in Somerset East! We are hosting a three-day celebration of creativity in the birth town of Walter Battiss. Here is an outline of the Festival Programme to give you a better idea of what to expect: Friday Evening 6:00pm: Evening festivities kick off at the Walter Battiss Museum with an artsy start... Get your hands dirty as you join in on our collaborative arts masterpiece. 7:00pm: Fook ferries begin the Hop-on Hop-off tasting tour of town. Over 18's only. 10:30pm: Ferries stop. Party continues at late night venue(s). * Also - kids are sorted : art workshop at the museum with Lizma Schoeman from 6pm till 10pm. All materials included. Pre-booking essential. Saturday All day: Sandra Thomas exhibition at museum 8am: Fancy dress parkrun 10am - 2pm: Local arts & crafts market at the museum 11am & 3pm: Sip & Paint workshops. Pre-booking essential. 1pm: Somerset East has got Talent show 10am & 2pm: Museum tours with Ros Turner, Queen of Fook. 6pm - 9pm: Music concert under the stars (live entertainment) at museum headlined by Vir Nou Net Magé. Sunday 9am - 4pm Chill at Glen Avon Mill. Pack a picnic and join us at one of the most picturesque farms in the area. Enjoy open air music by Hannes & Corné. You can even bring your own guitar and join in. Dis nie 'n stywe storie nie... Take a tour of the newly refurbished mill dating back from 1861. Other activities include nature trails, guided birding walk (pre-booking essential) and mountainbike routes. Alan Hobson will be doing fly fishing demonstrations and Janet Kingwell will show us how to paint a plein-air watercolour landscape. If you don't have your own art supplies, you can purchase some from Chat Noir's on site pop-up shop. All in all a fun-filled arty weekend for the whole family.
